Outback 3.0 economy ... Outback 3.0 economy ...
In January I took a very nice 2005 3.0 R Outback down to the Coromandel for a week with my family. After checking the tyre pressures and filling the tank with BP 98 octane to the brim I thought I would do my own fuel economy test. Using the on board computer as gospel the best average I obtained was 11 km to a litre on the Karaka straight's but managed to keep a steady 9.8 km to a litre most of the way to Hahei. Running up to the geneal store and around to Flaxmere bay the average dropped to 9.3. After a trip down to Pauanui I got back to 9.8 km per litre for the whole trip. Pretty good I thought for a 3.0 AWD 180 kw wagon fully loaded.
